In 1984 Maxi and Paul "Barry Boom" Robinson produced Philip Levi's Mi God Mi King, the first UK reggae tune to reach No. 1 in Jamaica.
Maxi covered Cat Steven's classic Wild World that gave Maxi his first U.S. smash hit.
Maxi’s album Bonafide achieved gold status, and the single Close To You hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart and No. 2 on the Hot R&B Singles chart.
Maxi collaborated with Roberta Flack for the classic hit Set The Night To Music.
In 1996, Maxi released a duet with Shaggy called That Girl which won them a Grammy nomination.
